The American Veterans Advocacy (AVA) Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Southern Maryland that provides assistance to veterans and their families. Their initial mission focuses on military-to-civilian transition support services for veterans in the local area where we work in conjunction with the Department of Defense (DoD) Transition Assistance Program (TAP) to provide seamless transition services.

The Shop With a Cop Program is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization consisting of members of the St. Mary’s County Optimist Club and the St. Mary’s County Fraternal Order of Police. Children who participated in the program were picked up at their homes by local, state, and federal law enforcement officers and taken to Walmart to purchase Christmas gifts.

Project Opportunity was founded on the concept of providing free entrepreneur training for veterans, active duty, reservist and military spouses who wished to start or expand a small business. They offer entrepreneur training courses and free business counseling and coaching for our training program graduates. They offer professional development workshops and seminars for all veteran small business owners, and referrals to other agencies and organizations that can assist in the success of the veteran small business population within Maryland.
